![]() I know that Ull is one of the 'big bads'. (Probably with 20 shards, 50 spears, 100 arrows stuck in him and plenty of club marks on him). The battle lost all sense of context and became an abstract exercise in point-and-click to throw things at Ull while running around randomly, trying to scrounge more things to throw at Ull.Įventually, when his health bar isn't showing anything any more, there are no more icicles to drop and I'm starting to wonder what the hell I'm supposed to do to end this, he finally drops. I spend the next 5-10 minutes running, turning and throwing whatever is available at Ull, watching his health bar gradually drop. So all my hard work of clearing a path feels fruitless, nevermind the further break in immersion. You're kidding me?Įven more frustrating, groups of Udam henchmen randomly spawn from nowhere to add to the chaos. ![]() Time to send in my Bloodfang Sabertooth then. I get smashed halfway across the cavern and lose half my health bars. Maybe we need an ol' school clubbing to sort this out. The health bar above him drops about 1 pixel. I edge forward and throw a well-aimed spear right into his face. I sneak in, sling a rock at the icicle above Ull and WHAM! he's stunned. Right, so that's this boss battle gimmick. Lots of stash bags here, so a hint at a decent battle, that's cool.Ī prompt flashes on the screen, "Shoot down the icicles to stun and hurt Ull". It should be just me and Ull, mano-e-mano.įinally I reach Ull in his cavern. Can't use the Owl, so I carefully sneak through Ull's cave, silently killing the occasional Udam and carefully disposing of their corpses in dark corners. I reach Ull's cave without having alerted any Udam to my presence as yet. ![]() I spend considerable time sneaking through Udam territory, using the Owl to scout ahead, spot and dispatch enemies and my trusty Sabertooth to finish any stragglers. So I get to the part where it's time to go into the heart of Udam territory and kill the Udam leader, Ull.
